Richard Ashcroft is an English musician, singer, and songwriter. He formed the alternative rock band the Verve in 1989. 英国マンチェスター近郊ウィガン出身、ザ・ヴァーヴのフロントマンとして1990年代を象徴するアンセムを創出し、ソロとしても不動の地位を築いた「ブリティッシュ・ロック界最後のアイコン」。神聖さと野性味が共存する歌声と、人生の真理を突くスピリチュアルな詩世界で知られる。2020年代においても、自身のクラシックを再構築するプロジェクトや精力的なライブ活動を通じ、孤高のメロディ・メイカーとして圧倒的な存在感を放ち続ける。
